What counts as a tween bestseller

The books below are the current top sellers in Amazon's children's and middle grade categories, refreshed through the day. It is a snapshot of what families are actually buying this week — not an editorial ranking, and not a "best books of all time" list.

That distinction matters when you are shopping for an 8–13 year old. Bestseller charts in this age band move fast and cluster hard: a movie or series adaptation, a school reading list, or a new installment in a long-running series can push a title to the top for two weeks and then let it fall away. Long-running favorites such as Diary of a Wimpy Kid, Percy Jackson and Wings of Fire sit near the top almost permanently, which means the interesting signal is usually a little further down the page.

How to use this list

• Check the age band before the rank. Amazon's children's charts mix picture books, early readers, middle grade and young adult. A title selling well overall may be pitched several years above or below your reader.
• Treat a box set as a starting point, not a commitment. Box sets chart well because they are good value, but a reluctant reader is usually better served by one book than by seven.
• Look for the series marker. Where a bestseller is part of a series, we link through to the full reading order — starting at book four is a common way to put a child off a series for good.
